BJP UP state unit president Keshav Prasad Maurya admitted to ICU ward of Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in Delhi. RML Hospital said Maurya has problems related to blood pressure and would remain under observation today and would be discharged tomorrow.

The party has still still not committed to its UP chief ministerial pick, but with BJP president Amit Shah saying that the party would endorse its state unit president’s choice, Maurya’s chances at the top job in the state are virtually ruled out since he can hardly put his own name in the list of contenders. Maurya is a prominent OBC face in the BJP and rose in the ranks with the backing of the Sangh and like the PM used to be tea seller in his initial days.
