Several MPs, MLAs, former MPs and former MLAs of BJD were in talks with the BJP intending to join- Jual Oram

Bhubaneswar : BJP leader and Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram on Tuesday dropped a bombshell when he claimed that several MPs, MLAs, former MPs and former MLAs of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) were in talks with the BJP intending to join the saffron party.

Oram’s assertion assumed further significance in view of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) going to hold its national executive meeting in Bhubaneswar on April 15 and 16 in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party president Amit Shah.

“We are not breaking up the BJD; on the other hand, the BJD itself is disintegrating,” said Oram to the media here.

He said the BJD is set to face a disintegration like the erstwhile Janata Dal had undergone in 1996-97.

More significantly, BJP leader and Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who is projected as the BJP’s Odisha face by the party high command, had also predicted a few days ago that the State’s ruling party headed by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is on its way of fast disintegration.

In retaliation to Oram’s claim, the BJD said the BJP is only daydreaming. BJD spokespersons Pratap Keshari Deb and Samir Dash stated that this is part of the BJP’s “gimmicks” in its propaganda game.

While Deb asserted that no BJD MP or MLA is interested in switching over to the BJP, Dash challenged Oram to disclose the names of the BJD leaders who are in touch with the BJP.
