Jajpur/Dharmasala: The state government has brought in noticeable changes in the lives and livelihood of people by involving them in the development process, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said here Wednesday. He said this while laying the foundation stones for 268 projects at Dharmasala Mahotsav ground in Jajpur district 

Addressing a public meeting, the Chief Minister said development has been brought in the fields of agriculture, health, education, irrigation, women and child development, panchayatiraj, drinking water, power supply and development of scheduled caste and scheduled tribes. 

He claimed that people are his main source of strength and he is able to perform as they have reposed confidence on him. 

Speaking on the Mahanadi imbroglio, the CM said the river is like a mother and the lifeline of people here and the fight to save its water is continuing. 

Patnaik inaugurated three projects of the works department built at a cost of `648.84 lakh. He laid the foundation stone for construction of six projects at a plan outlay of `4473.18 lakhs and a slew of other projects. MLA Pranab Balbantray presided over the meeting while collector Ranjan Kumar Das delivered the welcome address. 

Minister Pranab Kishore Das, MP Reeta Tarai, Binjharpur MLA Pramila Mallick, Bari MLA Debashis Nayak, Barchana MLA Amar Prasad Satapathy, Sukinda MLA Preetiranjan Ghadai, Korei MLA Akash Das Nayak and Mahanga MLA Pratap Jena also spoke on the occasion. 

The Chief Minister also gave away old-age allowances and land pattas to the landless under Vasundhara Yojana. Meanwhile, police arrested 131 Congress and BJP workers while they were trying to show black flags to the Chief Minister.
